After the success of last year’s launch gig at St Mary’s Church, we’re excited to welcome Scott Matthews to this incredibly atmospheric venue, for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of live music.

Scott’s first single “Elusive” was released in September 2006. The single received much airplay from BBC Radio DJs Jo Whiley, Dermot O’Leary, and Zane Lowe. Lowe played “Elusive” once each night as his chosen Single of the Week. Matthews also visited the station to perform “Elusive” and other songs from the album in May and August 2006.

In May 2007, “Elusive” won the Ivor Novello Award for “Best Song Musically and Lyrically”.

The extensive media attention lead to a licensing deal with Universal Island Records, who were the releasing label for Scott’s 2nd album “Elsewhere”, which was released in May 2009 to critical acclaim.

Scott has not only embarked on a number of sell-out headline tours, but has also been fortunate enough to tour with some of the world’s most respected artists, including, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, Rufus Wainwright,Tori Amos and Robert Plant.

Scott Matthews’ new record, The Great Untold, is a career-defining masterpiece. The sixth studio album by the Ivor Novello Award-winning singer-songwriter is the one that many have craved: it is a masterclass in honesty, instinct and reflection. A largely acoustic recording, Matthews’ sublime new record features sparse production. Recorded at home and in acoustically resonant rural churches, instrumentation has been jettisoned. His ten-song cycle is the sound of a man comfortable in his own skin, putting his neck on the line with a collection of otherworldly songs.
