Following his recent nationwide tour supporting Newton Faulkner and before that a sell out solo head line performance at Henry Tudor House, London based songsmith and former Sunday Times ‘Breaking Act’ Sam Brookes returns – this time with the support of his full band line up. His acclaimed album Kairos was tipped by The Independent for a Mercury Prize nomination, received support from the likes of Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2. With over 5 million plays on Spotify, it is fair to say that those who know his music, love his music….and those who don’t, are about to.

Dutch artist Christof van der Ven has announced the release of his debut album, ‘Empty Handed’ on April 13 on Planet Zog Records. The record is reflective of his already varied career, and features music written over a number of years in places all over the world – from his beloved Galway, to his home in London, to the far flung places he has visited on tours with artists that include Bear’s Den, The Staves (who feature on the album) and The Boxer Rebellion.

‘Empty Handed’ has been constructed slowly and carefully by an artist who has honed his craft on some of the biggest and smallest stages in the world. The record draws from a number of influences, including Damien Jurado, Fionn Regan and Grizzly Bear, and is infused with chest-pounding, Springsteen-esque instrumentation. Christof’s music has also caught the attention of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, who invited him to open one of the dates of his residency at the Hammersmith Apollo in February.
