The team that brought you over 10 years of stand up comedy at Henry Tudor House is now proud to present the all new ‘Mad Jack’s Comedy Club’ – the new home of live comedy at Morris Hall, Shrewsbury.

Our host and MC for the evening Barbara Nice introduces double headliners Rob Deering and Josh Jones.

Josh Jones is a Mancunian ray of sunshine and the most original voice to emerge from the North-West in recent years.

After his hilarious debut TV appearances on E4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats and ITV’s Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club, Josh has gone on to host BBC Three’s Fast Food Face-Off and make guest appearances on Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, ITV2’s Iain Stirling’s CelebAbility, E4’s Reality News, Sky Max’s Dating No Filter, Dave’s Late Night Mash, and Comedy Central’s Undeniable, Guessable, Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains and Comedy Central Live. Josh recently made his debut appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show.

Josh co-hosts the Dave original podcast series Hard Sell with Darren Harriott. He also hosts his own historical gossip podcast Dead Drama, and the Chatting with Cherubs podcast with Morgan Rees.

In 2022 Josh was nominated for Best Newcomer at Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards for his critically acclaimed sell-out show Waste of Space. He was previously a finalist for the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award, which he subsequently went on to judge on BBC Three. Josh was also nominated for Outstanding On-Screen Talent Featured in a Production at the 2022 Royal Television Society Northern Ireland Awards for hosting Fast Food Face-Off for BBC Three.

Rob Deering performs stand-up comedy with music, using a guitar, a loop pedal and his voice to create impressive rock and pop soundscapes – and do jokes, of course.

Along with being one of the most in-demand headliners on the UK circuit, he’s toured nationally and performed solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe many times since starting out in comedy in the year 2000. His late-night, live-music comedy pop quiz Beat This is a festival institution, on London’s South Bank, at Wales’ Green Man and many more besides Edinburgh.

Rob has performed throughout the world, in shows from the Middle East to Melbourne, Shanghai to the South of France, and he has appeared on any number of Radio and TV shows, often using his extensive knowledge of film, popular music and… well, ‘general’; he has won Celebrity Mastermind and a comedians’ special of the Weakest Link on BBC One, for example.

He also recently ran all over Britain for BBC 6 Music. Yes, Rob runs, presenting the podcast Running Commentary with fellow running comic Paul Tonkinson, and fundraising for his favoured charity Parkinson’s UK; he has run seven marathons. He produces and hosts Parkinson’s UK’s annual gig Shake With Laughter at London’s Comedy Store, where he is also a regular member of the Cutting Edge topical comedy team.

Barbara Nice is the creation of award-winning comedian and theatre director Janice Connolly. Barbara is the over enthusiastic housewife alter-ego of Birmingham-based performer Janice, who previously appeared in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, and is well known on the circuit for her lively, upbeat presence.

She’s the Stockport housewife, cleaner to the stars and keen ‘Take a Break’ reader, who has been delighting live comedy audiences for 25 years with her unbridled enthusiasm. She gave up the domestic bliss of tupperware and Pound Stretcher shops for the unpredictability of the comedy world, but no audience is too rowdy for her to handle.

Barbara performs playful, life-affirming shows for all the family. With the affectionate attitude of a playgroup leader at a wild Iggy Pop concert, she is guaranteed to warm the heart of any audience. She has been compared to Victoria Wood, Mrs. Merton, and Julie Walters.

Having supported comedians Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay on tour, Barbara Nice is a circuit headline act in her own right, as well as being one of the most experienced comperes in the country. She has also performed solo shows in Edinburgh, Brighton and Manchester.
