With the release of their penultimate album Golden Days (2019), Mamas Gun delivered their defining masterpiece to date. A sense of joy and fun, coupled with exceptional musicianship, has always distinguished Mamas Gun from their contemporaries, It’s those qualities that catapulted their first two singles onto BBC Radio playlists in the UK and helped them surpass Madonna as the #1 international act on Japan’s airplay charts. Following releases won more support from other major continents as well as sync placements in major Netflix and Apple shows, solidifying their draw as headliners across the UK, Europe and Asia & powering the group’s profile even higher, reaching the Top 20 on the UK’s Independent Album Chart with a Top 10 Airplay single.
Conjuring the spirit of conscious ‘70s soul, Mamas gun released their bold and big hearted follow up album CURE THE JONES in 2022. A lush, nuanced meditation on a world turned upside down, embedded in the classic soul tradition of Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye.
With this record, the band set work to introducing themselves to the US marketplace. Releasing in conjunction with Secretly group/Colemine records to present the album Stateside & quickly achieving airplay support from the likes of KCRW kicking off a shift in their streaming support with a new US focused following in tow. The bands debut tour in North America (2023) supported by live sessions with the likes of AUDIO TREE & KCRW was a great success, seeing them return for further dates a few months following as well as a headline spot at the NEW YORK JAZZ FESTIVAL in 2024.
Cure The Jones the bands most recent album release represents the band’s most complete and powerful work, drawing soul threads between love, loss, life and the most pressing social and political issues of the day. The record was one of their most critically acclaimed and saw the project profile grow to a new level of recognition.
Written and produced by Mamas Gun frontman Andy Platts during the pandemic, it was recorded direct to tape with an array of analogue gear at his Uk studio.
The five-piece of Andy Platts (vocals), Terry Lewis (guitar), Dave Oliver (keys), Chris Boot (drums) and Cameron Dawson (bass) bring a range of influences to the table. Collectively siting collaborations with creatives including Rod Temperton, Brian Jackson and John Oates (of Hall & Oates), Leon Ware, Puma Blue and more.
Having completed almost 2 full years of touring across 4 continents to sold out crowds and newly signed to an international major publishing partner, Mamas Gun have started work on their next musical offering with a spring 2026 release planned.
