Tommy Ashby
Morris Hall, Shrewsbury
Thursday 18th February 2027
Doors 7pm - On Stage 8pm
Born in the Scottish Borders, Tommy grew up in a musically rich household — his father was a singer and guitarist in a traditional blues band, and Tommy’s childhood was filled with playing guitar in the family band and absorbing the Scottish pub sing‑around culture. His teenage years were shaped by the records of Neil Young, Simon & Garfunkel, Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, and Jeff Buckley, blending American roots, blues, and country influences with his own Scottish folk heritage. His sound blends ethereal sonics with hushed vocals, often recorded in natural or coastal settings. Influences range from his father’s blues band to artists like James Blake and Gillian Welch. Ashby’s approach is both personal and expansive, aiming to capture the “innate beauty of everyday moments”
